Types of Copper Wire Scrap Traded by SINCHI WAYRA

As far as copper wire scrapping is concerned, SINCHI WAYRA deals with six different types;

  • #1 Bare Bright Copper Wire
  • #1 Insulated Wire
  • #2 Insulated Wire
  • Romex Wire
  • Communication Wire
  • Insulated Copper Cable

Bare Bright Copper Wire

Copper wire that is not corroded or burned and must be shiny in its appearance. No contamination in any form. Must be thicker than a pencil lead.

It is widely used in various industries, such as in electrical and plumbing businesses. Usually it is found inside of thick electric cables in a variety of electronic devices. It is also abundant in certain machinery parts, such as in motors or transformers, and at dismantled metal constructions and buildings.

#1 Insulated Wire

Insulated Copper wire that is 16 gage or thicker (1/16 inch). If wire is stranded, each wire must be 1/16” or thicker. Must have a copper recovery of 70% or more.

#2 Insulated Wire

Insulated Copper wire smaller than 16 gage (1/16 inch) and has a copper recovery of 55% – 69%. The copper wire may be coated by tin or nickel. All stranded wire smaller than 1/16”.

Communication Wire

It is used in various electronic systems, such as telephone and mobile networks, cable television, etc.

Another type of cable purchased by most scrap yards is called communication or data wire. It is used in various electronic systems, such as telephone and mobile networks, cable television, etc. Recently, communication wire has become the primary indispensable part of any system that requires sending information signals. These include data storage and transmission centers, intercoms, electric circuits, and Internet access in countless households and businesses.

Data cables are recyclable because they contain copper. Similarly, house wires are covered with plastic, and it is not recommended to strip them to get to copper parts.

Romex Wire

Most of these cables are made of copper, and this makes them ideal for scrapping, as copper products are bought at good rates.

It is practically impossible to find any devices, machinery or appliances that do not use cables. Most of these cables are made of copper, and this makes them ideal for scrapping, as copper products are bought at good rates. Another factor that we all must consider is our work environment, so if your business produces a lot of wire scrap, consider selling it to a scrap yard for copper recovery and reusing.

There are various types of cables. A widely used one is called Romex® wire. Basically, it is a branded house wire found in every home and office since it is used for electric wiring. Sometimes Romex® cable is described as a non-metallic wire because it is insulated. Typically housewire has two insulation layers, so before scrapping it, you have to decide whether you will strip it or not. Yes, stripped copper wire is sold at higher rates, but the un-coating process of Romex Wire can be tiring and laborious. Apart from the time and effort you are going to put into it, stripping might cause some damage to the copper inside. It will therefore be best to just sell your Romex® wire in its jacket.

Insulated Copper Cable

These are used for power transmission and can be obtained from dismantled electrical lines and hubs, ignition systems, industrial machinery, etc.

High-voltage (HV) cable consists of two parts: a conductor made of copper and a protective insulation jacket. These are used for power transmission and can be obtained from dismantled electrical lines and hubs, ignition systems, industrial machinery, etc.

High-voltage cables come in various sizes and lengths and are accepted by most scrap yards.

If you have bulk HV wires, contact the Greener Recycling scrap yard to check on it’s current purchase prices and the requirements for high-voltage cable bought for copper recycling.
